Via Tortona, 35

Today, this 30,000 sqm complex comprises the Design & Fashion Hotel as well as a future development of the Italian eyewear company Luxottica. It is difficult to imagine that Matteo Thun’s first new hotel (a proud flagship of the NH Hotel Group which is the third largest in Europe and has 256 hotels worldwide) and a state-of-the-art Luxottica site stand where a 30,000 sqm former electric turbine production plant squatted for decades.

The factory was maintained by General Electric after the war, almost until the end of the 1990’s. This property was originally acquired directly from General Electric, and the developers were able to repurpose the function of the area, which now also includes a square of showrooms, offices, and open spaces taking inspiration from the creative world of fashion. The properties were leased to Diesel, Napapijri, Closed, Moncler, Cable & Wireless and Global Crossing.
