A former industrial space becomes a hub of innovation, focusing on technology, flexibility and a sense of community
With a major regeneration project signed by Pininfarina Architecture, the former Koelliker storage area is reborn and transformed into CoFactory Designtech, a hub of innovation and the first laboratory in the field of digital fabrication and prefabrication in Italy.
The redevelopment involved an area of 1,500 square meters on two levels, reorganized according to a co-design logic as a large modular and flexible open space. The heart of the project is the large indoor plaza on the ground floor with a dual function: on the one hand a state-of-the-art industrial laboratory, on the other a center for gathering, exchange and socializing. Around this arena, monochromatic modular spaces house laboratories, offices, meeting rooms, and co-working areas.
In a place that is synonymous with innovation and cutting-edge technology, the use of smart and sustainable construction solutions is a must. The mezzanine and modular walls, for example, are manufactured off-site and then assembled on-site, a technique that ensures less construction time and reduced production waste.
The same reasoning applies to the livability of workspaces, made by paying close attention to the quality of lighting, ventilation systems and the choice of furniture.
A project that perfectly sums up Pininfarina's philosophy, according to which design value is expressed in the union of aesthetics and performance to generate a positive impact on target communities and society as a whole.
